The aircon on my Omega was regassed last Monday after being found empty.  I suspected a leak but none was immediately obvious at the garage however dye was added just in case.  I bought a UV torch and, after returning from 150 miles today, checked for any dye leaks.

The joint close to the low pressure refill valve was the only place where I could detect any dye,  There was a ring of dye around the joint (exactly where arrowed in the picture) which definitely wasn't there before the journey.

Can anybody advise on whether t his joint can be tightened, remade or replaced?

There are Neoprene pressure seals between the 'crimps' & if the A/C is not used regularly they dry out & allow pressure leakage. They may 'take up' after a short time so run the A/C for short periods regularly over the next week or so and if you're lucky that will be the end of it. If you're not lucky however, then that section will need to be renewed as the joint cannot be 'remade'. Fingers crossed for you mate

I'm a bit naive on these issues but given that the leak appears to be very slow, could the joint simply be sealed with silicon sealant?  The pressure exerted by the leaking refrigerant should be relatively small?

Dunno about Omega's, but I did a bit of research on Senator A/C a few years ago when I had one.

Apparently, at high ambient temperatures (when the A/C is working hardest) the internal pressure is c300psi!

So silicone slop? Doubt it!

It's easy to confuse low leak rate with low pressure but if there is a leak then whatever repair you make will eventually see the full system pressure so the best you could hope to do is marginally slow the leak down.
