To take mine out I had to remove the fibre parcel shelf to get to the screws.
To get the fibre shelf out I had to remove the trim either side of the rear window.
To remove the trim I had to remove the fixed parts of the seat backs.
To get the seat backs out I had to pull out the seat base..................

Not impressed.

First time, yes the whole rear of the car has to come out, seat base, side bolsters, c pillar trims, head rest sockets, and all the trim and clips holding the leading edge of the parcel shelf, seat belt clips and bolt, then remove parcel shelf without dragging the rear blind (if fitted) studs across the speakers, if the parcel shelf itself is not glued in by windscreen sealant, just to get to the 6 or seven nuts(or are they screws) that hold the Bose shelf in place.
Second time you do it, remove head rest clips etc and just rip the bastard thing out (if no blind fitted)  >:(

Not impressed either.

And that's without relocating the Bose amp(not too bad) and extending the speaker wires.

But it does free up a suprising amount if boot space.  :y

No jobs are simple, it's like everything is designed to be difficult.

Designed for production line , which, once it's left the factory, amounts to the same thing I suppose.

I woulnt want to be the guy that fits the rear seat backs either, fiddly little bolts hidden behind the seat pad that has to be pushed out the way to get the bolt in/lined up so the shoulders are seated correctly/and hold the seat in place/ do the nut up while holding tools/ don't drop the nut/ or the ratchet/ while leaning in at an awkward angle with a bad back....

Then realise it's probably easier with the seat back locked in place. But not much.  >:(

Note to self, leave the car standard and stop buggering about with it.  ;D

it is a bit strange - they must have decided if a car is BOSE or not really early in the production - as the rear shelf speaker holes are only there for BOSE cars.

not to mention the wiring.

6 self tappers (torx), and if you have a rear blind, 3 nuts (10mm).

Parcel shelf has to come out.

Elite cabin and dash looms are quite different different to support Bose, seats, and memories.  None are simple additions to the loom, but a complete replacement set of looms.

Bose cutouts stopped in 2000 IIRC, mini facelifts have them as knockouts, whatever the spec :)

First time I took out a Bose Elite shelf, I did it within 10 minutes.

Second time was nearer 5 minutes and I need to do it again as my blind is now clicking, not working.  Fortunately I have a spare!

I dont know why people are suggesting removing the C pillar trims?????? Definitely not necessary.  :y
