I reported how I got stitched up by a rigged pair of nozzles in a well known supermarket a year or so ago. I solved it the same way, and have had no further problems in the 6000 miles or so since, although I was worried about the pump. I would say to the OP, don't throw the contaminated fuel away, if it only has a little diesel in it. I'm still using the remains of the 60 litres I had to siphon out, in my mower.! :y
