Sounds like rocker cover gaskets, any oil leaks visible?

V6,s do seem to generate an awfull lot of heat from around the car.

Remember the cats do run close to both sides and they give of alot of  heat .Worth just checking around to ensure no oil leaks but hot from these engines is normal.

Mine was really smelly hot today too, think the ambient temp being up a fair bit more than the norm does it, fans were cutting in a fair bit more often too but it didn't go over 96/97.

Sounds as del boy said like rocker cover gaskets. Have a feel down the base of the cam cover for any weeping of oil.  :y

Its a fairly common problem and not overly expensive to replace through one of the Omega specialists on the forum :y
