Traffic Master Unit.
« on: 10 April 2008, 22:06:33 »

Where is the traffic master unit fitted.?

Is there anything I need to be aware of to take the unit out.?

Will it cuase any problems running the car without it fitted.?

Above clutch switch. Black type taped to heating duct, silver type cable tied to loom.

No probs with removal, unless you use a carphone, in which case you'll need to remove the loom between TM and stereo (and send to me ;D)

Somewhere above the driver's feet, I think I took my dash out though when I removed mine. The aerial consists of just 2 wires (red & black IIRC) which lived above the radio somewhere.

No. Just some side cutters to snip a cable tie.

It's wired up via an adapter loom between the main loom & the radio. Just unplug the adpter & plug the car's loom straight into the radio cage.

Do you mean a CCRT700? My adapter loom obvioulsy wasn't the correct one because if you tried to remove the radio the adapter plug that should've stayed clipped to the radio cage wouldn't stay put. After I  realised that a CCRT700's cage was slightly different from others, I priced up the various bits & came to the conclusion that the dealer who fitted TM originally was prepared to buy the proper adapter loom that cost £160!!!  :o

Car is just a GLS Auto with a CDR500 (I think thats the model - CD Player what ever it is no phone.)

Did an Ebay search and found 3 pictures they were all Ali (Silver) but I dont know if they are the same as the Omega.

Lol

Just added Vauxhall to the search and up poped some black ones this time as well.

Am getting an Elite soon that has the CCRT700 and Carin Sat Nav in it.

Maybe a differ Traffic Master Unit depending on year or maybe depending on Stero supplied (But thought that would be a wiring loom issue)

trafficmasters that I have worked on (ahem!) are either silver boxes with external aerials or black boxes with internal aerials

Black box units appear more common on the Vectra, and the silver boxes appear to receive better

The input socket for the power and switch is the same, so the units are easily interchangeable from one style to another.

Later Omegas have the black ones as well.  Found a black one in a 2000 model last night whilst fitting a colour screen - had to remove as it was playing havoc with the radio (suspect a loom problem, but visual check showed nothing).

If fact, if anyone has a black TM unit they do not want, let me know how much they want for it.  I'm after one to play with...

Going to have to modify the loom on mine as it was from a ccr600 set up so won't connect to an NCDR2013.... was thinking about modifying the Autoleads phone loom.
