« on: 03 September 2008, 16:45:09 »

Does any one know the best place to mount a small box thing behind the dash for me ipod to cd player interface. Im after suggestions so i dont have to go ripping the whold car to pieces to find the best place?
Also how easy is to to wedge an alpine cd player in the dash what with the steering wheel interface loom too?

if stereo is a single din, then below it. If its still double din, it will have to be above one of the footwells I reckon

Better off extending the cable so that you can locate the box under the glovebox in the passenger footwell.  That's what I did when I installed an iPod adapter in  my car a few years ago.  There just wasnt room for it behind the stereo.

Well i just installed the new head unit but i couldnt get the AI-net cable through the rear of the dash (back of head unit area) down to the passenger foot well, where the ipod controller box will go. any one know any "easy" routes to get an AI net cable (quite a large connector like tv arial size connector) to the foot well from the dash area. im totally stumped. couldnt even see any light or anything. God knows how some people get double DIN units with 2 or 3 sets of RCA's coming outta there.

It is shockingly tight behind there - i had to try 3 units (from my stock) until i found one that was shallow enough to allow the unit to actually go in without squashing something.

Ones with a load of cables/filter boxes attached are a nightmare - My Sony unit just fits because that has just the short cable loom adaptor to ISO, and the fuse in the back of the unit itself.

Hate keep having to take the sodding thing back out to try and fix my fuse blowing fault (think i've fixed it now..)
