Does it have pre-outs? Also is it possible to connect a remote control unit (Philips' own from a Rover)?

There is one model that had pre-outs, but seldom seen in the UK. As far as the Rover remote goes, not as far as I can see as the protocol languages they speak are completely different between Philips and Rover.

there is a slight misunderstanding when it comes to remote. the remote i was talking about has a cable running to the head unit itself and is from a late rover 216 which did have philips head unit (dont remeber the model but have also seen it in early freelanders)

R770 probably.  The remote is likely to be incompaitble with sc804

Correct, 99.9% of the OEM Philips remotes are hard wired, but are not cross compatable between Car Manufacturers
