CD Changer Problem
« on: 07 September 2008, 13:57:19 »

Hi guys, this is my first post here!
I bought my Omega V6 Elite yesterday and checked everything worked and it did until i came to put some cd's in the changer.  I put the cartridge in the changer and normally you would hear like a whirring sort of telling you its working.  Well I didn't hear anything and when i pressed CD on the radio it says "No disc".  Now I can't eject my cartridge, its like there is no power to the changer.  Any ideas???

What model stereo / changer are you playing with?

The changer (whatever the version) is not compatable with CDR/RW discs and the varying thicknesses of them may cause the unit to jam and show NO DISC.

If you only bought the car yesterday, have you asked the previous owner how he got around the problem?

The previous owner said it was tempremental getting the cartridge out but if you persevere it will come out.  He said it worked ok as far as I'm aware.  It's just strange it doesn't even make a noise when you put the cartridge in.  It's the CCRT 700 model radio by the way.  Any ideas how I can get the acrtidge out now???

Before stripping it down to get the cartridge out, try unplugging it for an hour, and then plugging back in, as that will do a hard reset on it and should force a few motors into life - if that fails, then its a strip down job to identify the problem.

Cheers mate, I'll go and unplug it now.  I take it you mean unplug it at the changer end?

If you do have to replace CD changer, although identical looking, the CDC2 compatible with CCRT700 is unique to that stereo, and different to the CDC2 for CCR600/800 etc

Be carefull to get the correct changer - there are several versions of CDC2 and not all are cross compatable.

Have a look on the label on yours and there will be a 10 digit part number starting with a 7

7 ??? ??? ???

It is important to only obtain a changer with the same part number.
