Hi  shanjon, update for you, ive had alt changed be cause it was knacked so before i put it on i took wire off starter cleaned it with small file ohm tested lead while working up it "wriggling it" watching metre no break's, took all five earth leads off cleaned up emery/small file what ever i could get in didn't like the look of the purchase area that they all go on so i put a 8mm washer on first then earth leads back on, cleaned bettery terminals remove all other leads cleaned them replaced all bolts with new one's nut's with built in washers on starter/alt just need to watch that bolts in battery terminals isn't to long as they will pierce battery. that's sorted mine hope it sorts yours cheers billy ;)

My 02 2.2 is doing this too, just noticed it tonight,a faint glow,i know i had a lot on i.e full beam, radio and heating but i still dont think i should see battery light should i?
It goes off when i switch off the heating system, have i got a dodgy earth or is my alternator on its way out?

Its going in on Tues for timing belt kit, water pump and Aux belt and i will ask my mate to check the output of the Alt etc but should i be looking at earth straps etc as well before it goes in?

Cheers

hi,

i also have this problem - 2.2 dti - light comes and goes. started just before xmas, checked alternator - was putting out low volts - plus it had done 100k (so got a new one ), no change - checked battery - charge ok - but on load would drop below 11, on startup - would be 9 - so just swapped that - light again comes and goes.

on the facelift - where are the earth points, ones from the back of the alternator to the engine (I believe) The ones from the battery - just disapear into the engine bay - not had the time or the day light to tracde them.

battery is getting 14.5v on engine running now with new alternator

next time the light goes out will check the volts to see if the regulator is duff on this new unit.

Hi all,
I had this problem as well but no battery light. I replaced the two leads that come from the battery one to the body and the other one that sits just adjacent to the power steering pully. Replaced both and no light coming on at all. Have you changed the lead behind and adjacent to the power steering pully it might be that one thats knackered.

I got my cambelt all done yesterday and since getting it back the battery light is no longer on!? :-?

Even more strange is,my recirulating button that you press twice in a second to get the A up didn't work, it only came up with the circle and no A, no matter what you did........

Well it works fine now too!?? :-? :-?

Work that one! ;D ;D
