Central locking failed.
« on: 10 February 2009, 09:00:49 »

My mom’s got an Omega as well. It’s a 98 saloon 2.0 CD one. Few months ago central locking failed and since then nobody can fix it. There’s no reaction when trying to lock the car from the fob, but when trying to open, I can hear solenoids trying to work (like opening already open lock).  Locking/unlocking from the key or inside don’t work so I assume it’s a central locking not a fob (I tried second one and I tried to synchronize it – no luck). From what he has told me it started when dad tried to open locked boot with a key but this might have been broken before.
There are no fault codes.
One mechanic said it’s a central locking computer and she would has to replace it ,but as far as I know it’s in the same box with the car alarm and any attempt of swapping these boxes will end up in alarm will go off.
Is there anything we can check to find what’s wrong?

I was also told it might help and forgot to mention – it was disconnected and no luck. It looks like there is a short circuit. I will ask my brother to disconnect it again and try.
