loaded a new "aquired"  :o  :-X  version of Navteq yesterday, on the way to work this morning the ice warning came up every 30 seconds on my 20 minute journey to work. Bloody annoying! Is this due to the new disc or a coincidence with another fault? It seemed to be timed too accurately to be a random problem tbh. Anyone else had this?  Ta.

any tip on "aquireing" :D
No discussion on distributing copyrighted material on this site I'm afraid, so all I can do is point you to the Navteq website.
Or German fleagay. Writeable media really is not the way to go with these head units. Some members have picked up genuine 08 european discs for £40! But for the impovement it gives you i would save your money and stick with your current version.
Other than map updates, what improvement can a map update provide  :-/

I have been told, but have no proof, that part of a (genuine) upgrade disk may contain firmware upgrades as well as map changes. On first insertion of the disc the system will complete the firmware upgrade then continue as normal, and never needs to redo the upgrade......

As I say .. no proof of this at all .... just how I believe the system works.

what extra options have they added - apart from a tmc update around 2004 (which isn't applicable to uk anyway), no new options...

We are talking about the same thing J. Why have an update to update "options" that are grayed out and are then activated with the update that reminds you to change channel to then tell you the data base is not available and then remind you again which is annoying so you turn the updated option off! Why? Because we are not in europe even though we are in europe except we cant be in europe or tmc would not be encripted like it is'nt in europe. Its gay i tell you... And yes my pants are too tight today.

sadly, this being the uk, we have to be different, and have an encrypted version.  remember, the firmware is global, not uk specific.

I thought one of the updates was 'intersection zoom'?

Actually the obvious thing thing that gets updated (not as part of the firmware update on the NCDC/R but on the disk) is the POI data.

The most obvious is the map ;), but the POI database is obviously updated as well :)
