I have read my 2.5TD engine fault codes with a paperclip shorting pins 2 to 4.

Is there a way to read alarm system fault codes by shorting some other pins?

I have removed the power sounder -- can this cause an alarm fault?

No, you need a Tech2 (or similar device) to read non-engine codes on Omegas.

The lack of power sounder will cause a stored fault in the alarm ecu, but as a driver/owner, you will see no side effects of that.

Thanks TheBoy. I guess this explains why my alarm LED indicates a fault when set.

Idea: Place a capacitor across the car connector pins that go the the power sounder battery terminals (what is the pin mapping for the power sounder connector?). Then clear the alarm ECU fault store.

Result: No regenerated PS alarm fault and no need to worry about PS battery.

The stored code for missing PS present absolutely no problem whatsoever, so no need to mess about with it
