Omega CCRT700 <<ERROR CDC>>
« on: 01 May 2009, 12:16:33 »

Hi there,

I have a couple of questions about an Omega mv6 ccrt700 cd charger.
I have no problem with the codes, as i followed the right procedure to enter it after having disconnected/reconnected the CD charger:

When I put CD in it, and I push on the "CD" button on the radio, it displays <<ERROR CDC>>.
When I remove the magazine, it displays <<NO MAGAZINE>>, so the communiction between the ccrt700 unit and the cd changer unit seems to be correct.

I opened the cd changer unit to have a look inside, all seems correct (no broken part, no cd in it).
I put cd in the box with the right side (labels upside). When introducing the 6 cd box, something moves and makes noise in the unit (cames, motor, ...), but it does not load any CD.
So, I assume that my cd changer unit is dead.
and here are the questions :
1°) Reading the different posts, it sounds that I have to purchase the exact same model (Blaupunkt CDC2). Could I have a confirmation here ? is there no way to purchase a new cd changer model, able to read MP3 CDs?
Here is the model I own :

2°) Looking at the place where the CD Charger is located, I can see an additional free (unused) cable (cord ?) with more pins that the cable currently connected to the unit, with some kind of coaxial cable near it :

Does anyone have an idea of what is this cable intended to ?
Do you think it could be possible to connect another unit than the CDC2 ?

Thanks in advance for the replies :)

The coaxial cable is probably for a GPS module for the optional OnStar element of the CCRT700.

Thanks for the info guys.

Thus I forget the possibility of reading mp3s with the ccrt700, which is not a big problem, I'll just have to burn CDs  ;).

Also, I unsderstand that I have to purchase the same replacement CDC2 CD unit.

Does anyone here use the phone function of the ccrt700 ?
I'd like to use the sim card of my gsm phone, however it is much too small, as the sim card for the ccrt700 shoud be in a "credit card format".
Any hint ?

Oh, an additionnal question :

I must purchase a new CDC2 unit. I thint that, ordering it in a garage, I would pay 3 or 4 times the price... :(

Any idea of a place to buy this unit, online ?

Thanks again

For phone side, not a bad phone, but GSM900 only, so voda or o2.

Both will give you free sim cards, but that means another number...

A new SIM comes attached to a full sized/credit card sized card, you just don't press/push it out!  ;)

Couldn`t you simply Clone a SIM card ? As long as you turned off your mobile when in the car so that only one was active, surely that would work?

Large SIM card adaptors are readily available for not a lot -  :y
