Can a vauxhall CD70 system be fitted in a miggy?
« on: 06 May 2009, 12:58:28 »

I just spotted a cd70 navigation system pulled out of a 2006 signum and wondered can this be installed in a miggy? Definitely a tech 2 job .
Can this be done?

No.

The later CD30 / 70 / 90 models used in later Vauxhalls rely heavily on canbus integration with the vehicle, and although the Omega has a "sort" of canbus, its by no means enough to run a later head unit - there just aren`t enough signals to get the thing running.

That CD70 would fit my mum bus though.....

Dave, when you decode these do you provide the code or wipe it?

They get reset back to delivery mode so that you can use the Tech2 to program it back in.

If looking at the CD70 / DVD90 make sure you get them in delivery mode if you can, as unlike the CD30, resetting them is a real pain !

Thats a pity as if you supplied the code it could then be used with Tech2 to put that and the screen in delivery mode.

No, very different technology - there is no customer entered code whatsoever on these, its purely down to the VIN number stored in several locations on the unit. Twice in the TSOP48, once in the EEprom and a couple of bits of data on the micro. Apart from the micro bits, the VIN number is really easy to spot if you were having a play.
