Is their a direct replacement for the ccr600 stereo that allows the use of mp3's or mp3 cd's

Mine is the bose system and was wondering if their are any modern upgrades?

That's assuming the ccr600 isn't mp3 compatible

No.

Aftermarket head units are not compatable with the BOSE system, and replacing th ehad unit for a non-bose would mean ripping out the entire system, amplifiers and speakers as well (2 ohms)

ccr600 also is not bose compatible...  ...thats what ccr800 was made for

My rear speakers say bose on the grilles, and also looks like the bose amp but the head unit is defintely ccr600

Somebody has been b uggering about then.  Bet the volume isn't that controllable at lower volumes?

There is no direct replacement that will run the bose and play MP3s.  FM adapters or cassette adapters are your options

It's definitely bose as it says so on the speakers. Can't see the amp properly as it's in a housing under the parcel shelf but it's a big black thing with loads of wires going into one location. Volume and playback is good and controllable at all levels.

Disagree about the cassette flap being changed - more likely just has the wrong stereo/ amplifier combination fitted.

Is it possible that the amp could be the other style as more commonly used with the SC804 head unit, as the CCR600 would connect to that just fine?

Need to confirm amp part number, and for peace of mind, the part numbers from the speakers themselves, not just from the grilles.

Possibly, but philips amp wouldn't (as standard) be mounted on the bose shelf...

Not entirely sure about that one - the rotary volume control with an old fasioned pot may operate the BOSE amp a little better than an aftermarket replacement using a rotary digital encoder

That would be something worth experimenting with?

Hmmm, good point...

I know the CCRT700, CCR2006, NCDC has the problem when fitted to bose but not configured for it.  Also, the CDR2005 has the same problem, but can't remember if that is a pot or an encoder on that model
