the clock display on dashboard
« on: 13 June 2009, 13:27:16 »

Hi,

I have a problem with my clock and date on the car computer display. The buttons above the display won't response and the date is 01.01.1998, the clock is 00:00 all the time.

Does anyone know what the problem can be? Is it the buttons or any other important problem?

Cheers

Could be the Buttons or could be dirty contacts feeding the buttons above the display unit, either way you will need to take the Dash out and have a poke arround.

10 min to take the Dash out by the way.  :y

I think I've only ever played with the button above the clock once, and that was to set the time for France. All other times the RDS has set the time & date for me.

Ah! That'd explain it.

By the way, if it is a stuck button or the problem is due to a button problem, is it also normal that the clock and the date is always the same and never change? :-?

Is the fuel computer info (range, mpg etc) above the radio info line, or below it?

The computer info is above the radio info line.

I also activated the RDS as it says in the manual but that didn't adjust the clock and date.

OK, newer style mid.

Presumably the buttons are working correctly if you are able to set and unset rds.

I would now begin to suspect a faulty MID.

If you are based near me, I would try reprogramming the config on it.
