My drivers door lock is playing up, door button doesn't go down on first press of the remote fob but does on the second (deadlock press) sometimes it opens from the fob others it doesn't (I have to open the back door and manually lift the button)

I'm assuming it will be the motor that's at fault, can they be fixed/lubricated? I have side airbags, are there any precautions I need to take while working in there? I understand about the inner skin/membrane having to be sealed, but what happens if the skin is damaged, can you get replacements?

Hi Ratty,

I used duct tape to repair my torn membrane - but if you find out that new ones are available let me know as I'm up for 4!

It's quite easy to replace the motor without tearing the membrane, I don't have a 6 pin door motor here but if you can get one I'll show you the easiest way to change it as I'm only ½ an hour up the road

Thanks, I might take you up on that, I take it then that the motors are generally a replacement job rather than a fix or repair.

Does anyone happen to have a good one lying around? Can't really afford a Stealer one atm.

PM one of the breakers, I know LooKnee and MarkeyMark have/are breaking mini-facelifts atm

mine did that it was a bit of dirt in the ajuster, there is a screw in side the door lock it to set the lug arm sprayed it wile pulling up the door lock in side the car, works ok now 1 or 2 mm out door would not lock.

If you dismantle the motor you will probably find that one of the microswitches has high resistance normally closed contacts.

Change the switch and all should be well.

Be wary of bending the solder spills on your replacement switch, it seems to shorten the life drastically.

Thanks for the tip, if I can I'll get another one and do a direct replacement of the motor then I can take the old one apart and see if it is the micro-switch if it is I'll repair it and keep the whole motor as a spare, because knowing my luck I'll take the old one apart and knacker it completely and have nothing to put back in
