Alarm/indicator problem??
« on: 13 December 2009, 20:26:24 »

Evenin' all.

went to lock the Omy this morning, and pressed the fob button as normal: doors locked, and the indicators flashed twice, as they should, but the nearside indicators then stayed on...
Unlocked, using fob, and indicators flashed once, and went off as they should.
Now, everytime I try to lock the car with the fob, the nearside indicators stay on after flashing twice??
stripped out the c/l ecu in the drivers footwell, and pulled the multiplug apart. Checked the connectors, and sprayed with contact cleaner & re-assembled, but still stay on when locked!!  :-?
Have had to lock car with the key to stop indicators from being left on.
The indicators work correctly as repeating indicators, just stay on when locking/alarming the car.

Anybody got any suggestions??

Might seem an odd thing to do .. but try switching the hazards on /off 15-20 times ....

The hazard switch has been known to get a tad "dirty" and cause problems with the indictor system ....

Might just work .. might not .. nowt to lose though .. :)

IIRC Ian_D had this problem. Something to do with a sticking relay in the alarm IIRC  :-/

I know for a fact that this fault is caused by the relay that flashes the lights twice when you lock the car - failing.

Its a double contact relay and only one set of contacts has failed.

Its one of the ones up behind the glove box.

The good news is that you can remove it and the indicators will work normally - you just wont get the double flashs when you lock/unlock the car. Its a common enough relay and also means that you can take it to Vx and say "one of these please."

The bad news is that I dont remember which relay it is - BUT, if you put your finger on it whilst you lock/unlock the car with the remote you will feel it opetate through your finger.
