Fog light switches
« on: 31 December 2009, 12:41:38 »

Hi All

Does anyone know if the fog light switches on my car should be illuminated?

I notice that in the dark, i can't actually see the buttons so can't tell whether i'm putting the front or back ones on until they're on and the light shows up in the speedo area.

I know in previous vauxhalls (cavaliers/astras) that most switches seem to be illuminated by small bulbs built into the switch and replacements are easily obtainable.

Many thanks
Dan

Yes they should be backlit, mine don't work either so I just remember fronts are to the left ;)

Illumination bulb behind switches has probably blown.
You need to remove the switch unit, and remove the small bulb holder, (bayonet fitting) replace bulb and refit to switch unit. refit switch unit, and all should be lit okay.
Have recently done this job myself, and can now see the switches!!  :) (should have taken some piccies i suppose. :-[ )

10 min job at most... :y

mine is inside the unit, the switches come off and there is a LED at the back, no light in the switch.
