The car developed a weird problem today. The headlights stay on constantly. Even if i turn the switch of, stop the car and lock and leave they still shine. Must take the fuses out to stop them. Have tried 2 different ligtswitches without any difference. Have also tried removing fuse 8 for scandinavian daytime running lights with no help. Its only the normal dipped beam that does this. Tail lights and instrument, licence plate lights go on and of with the switch. Tried disconnecting the battery to with no help. What has possessed my lights??

hmmm... as soon as it appeared the problem suddenly dissapeared. Hope it stays this way now...

I wonder if you have a sticking relay that controls your daytime running lights  :-/  :-/  :-/
The UK used to have a system where-by you couldn't drive with just side lights, it would also light your dipped beam at half power. SWMBO had a car where the relay would stick resulting in the same symptoms as yours. Removing the relay sorted the problem.  I've also heard of other Carltons (Omega A) of the same kind of era having the same problem.
I would find your DRL relay if there's a next time, & unplug it to see what happens.
