Front Fog Lamps
« on: 30 July 2010, 18:39:47 »

My miggy was NOT fitted as standard with front fog lamps or the relevant dashboard switch. I have found the lamps and switch available to buy but need to know......Is the wiring already in place at both ends or will i need to feed the wiring in myself before fitting and would i also need to modify anything else like brackets/clips behind the front grille blanks?????

Why oh why was there never a V8 Omega????
Such a missed oppurtunity.
Look forward to the Cadillac ATS & ATS-V. Maybe a re-badged one will replace the Miggy as a RWD runner?

I'm sure you'll find the relevant wiring already there, it was on my Manta & Cav Coupe years ago. Your bumper outer skin is different from one that has fog lights, they both have a grille though.

facelift bumper is the same with or without fogs. unless it is a 2.2 sport.
the only difference is the lower grill. this may be the same on each with cut outs moulded to the back of the grill for fitting fogs, or they are different ie holes for the lamps or not. the lamps screw to the bumper casing rather than the car, though i cant recall if they screw in to the bumper directly, or if they screw to the grill which then clips to the bumper. a rumage under the offside front corner should reveal more, including the presence of wires. another test would be to swap the switch with one that has fogs, pop a fuse in, put the side lights on then press the button for the front fogs. if this puts the tell-tale on the instrument panel, then the cahnces are that the loom is fitted. may need a relay?
the other thing with the switch is to make sure that you get the correct one. should have 2 wheels- one for beam level and one for instrument dimmer, and obviously both fog light switches. (i assume that you dont' have xenon lights, the switch on these doesn't have the level adjustment as they are self levelling). the switch from any mig should do the job as long as it matches the above description.
good luck, al :y

Mine does have Xenon's but has the headlight adjust dial (which seems to work as i'm sure i've seen the beams move). I have located several 2nd hand switches as you have described as well as the fog lamps. The lower grille seems to have 2 blanks where the fogs should be but i have not been behind them in search of wiring looms.
