HI,
   i have a slight problem with my 2001 2.6 v6 manual when i come back from a drive and lock the car the alarm goes off about 20-30mins after setting it and when i set the alarm the secound time its o.k but it sometimes goes off early hours in the morning and sometimes it does not go off if anybody has and idea i will be greatfull.

as i understand it the two usual suspects is the bonnet switch and the powersounder. try unplugging them on at a time and see if problem goes away...

hi,if i disconnect the bonnet switch will the alarm still set or does it need to be connected thank you.

Can be disconnected without any problem. Also check it is secure and vertical.

Your description of the fault makes me think it is the bonnet switch being slightly out of true and only just making contact when the system/engine/metalwork is hot. As it cools down the switch opens and the alarm goes off. You reset it, then sometimes as the temperature drops overnight it cools again and goes off

If disconnecting solves the problem .. then check alignement ..

Hi all , i have now disconected the bonnet switch, i set the alarm for the night at about 6pm and was woken with alarm going off about 7 hrs later is there a next step i can try thank you. :-?

Ideally you could do with having the alarm codes read using a tech2 or similar to pinpoint the cause. As a temporary measure lock the drivers door by reaching in from the rear door, that should drop the central locking in but not set the alarm.
