Immobiliser issue
« on: 12 November 2010, 18:05:31 »

On the 3.2 Elite

Car has been sitting on the drive for about a month and now cannot start (Previously running fine with no DTC's).

Immobiliser lamp flashes when using either key, the battery voltage was low so I have popped another charged battery in but still have the same problem.

I cannot get Opelscanner to communicate with the immobiliser or the engine management ECU's (It previously could) so I cannot read off the codes from either....

first check the chips in the keys are secure, then check the reader around the ignition barell, lastly (with the battery disconnected) unplug the ecu and check for any dampness or green corrosion on any of the female and male pins.

this damp weather and the fact the car hasnt been running may have caused some of that green stuff to develop

I've had that a few times with the DBW cars after the battery has been off a while. Reconnect the battery then turn the key to number 2 and leave it there for a minute or two, the immob. light normally stops flashing after the ECU has gone through every system in the car self checking. The 2.2 I did the head gasket on last week did it.

Thanks both, I will take my temp battery off the car tomorrow do as you suggest then pop the original (freshly charged by then!) battery on and see what happens.

I'm still concerned that Opelscanner can't talk to the engine management / immobilliser ECU (It can talk to others - ABS for example so happy the unit is working).

I'll see what tomorrow brings!
