Omega 1096 X20XEV
« on: 07 December 2010, 15:33:03 »

Hello everyone

I got a problem with my Omega, when it is cold it run OK when gets hot engine shots down, after 10sek can start the engine, but "check engine" is on and can't get more than 4,5K rps. After some time (engine gets cold again) everything comes back to OK status. Paper clip trick showed P0335 & P0340. has anybody had something like this?
Help please

p0335 = Incorrect rpm signal
p0340 = Camshaft Sensor Incorrect Signal

This would suggest that your Cam sensor needs replacing. I believe the Part No. is 93171450
Only buy a genuine GM replacement as pattern or after market sensors do not last long! :P

there are 2 types of cam sensor for this engine and age, i think the older variety was discontinued, meaning you have to modify the connector to fit the new sensor, best take yours off and post the part no. here to be sure

Isn't 0335 crank sensor though?  Seems improbable that both have failed at the same time.

If crank sensor was going dodgy when warm/hot, could it be giving a spurious cam sensor fault code? Or vice-versa?  :-/

Edit, just re-read the original post, and noticed the low rev limiting; that looks more cam-sensor than crank-sensor, I think.  :-/

Symptons described are synonymous with both cam & crank. Being the 4-pot I`d gamble on the cam sensor

Part No. quoted in my earlier answer is the modified sensor, & the trouble code given is from the Simtec 56 2litre code listed as cam sensor  :y
