removal of ncdc 2013 radio/cd/satnav
« on: 11 January 2011, 07:14:52 »

Hi all
My unit keeps throwing the sat nav disc out and asking for it to "Please insert Disc Label side up"it does eventually work after umpteen reinserts. I contacted a firm in Germany who said they can repair it for 210 euro and i would like to do this but they said must be deactivated. I did contact Dave on Forum who indeed confirmed it as to be depaired before taking it out repaired before putting it back in with tech2 is any one in my area that as tech2 as it will be 60 notes each time i suspect or (is there a way round this ) i nearly took it out other day so that would have rendered it useless if i got the info correct
TIA
Robert

Shame they need it depaired.

Not sure if VXL V6 still has a source for replacement lasers for the top slot...  ...could save a load of hassle.

Obtained mine from Lasertrader.de. They will actually sell you the whole top cradle assembly which would make installation a little easier, seem to recall it was silly money though.

yes ive seen your post in the past on that and looked at their site i would have ordered one but there is no way i could do a job like that id just n***** it up.
i did ask a radio guy but he just sucked thru his teeth. And if i take it out it  will still have to be depaired according to the info, but i cant way that up, because  if battery is flat or disconnected there would be no power and i have heard people taking out and putting back maybe the boy could explain i heard something about delivery mode ??
Thanks anyway

The unit is electronically paired to your car, and cannot be fitted into anything else other than your car without programming. Before it can be programmed into anything else, it first needs to be deprogrammed or depaired from the car - when this is done, and it is in an unpaired state, this is often referred to as Delivery mode. The radio can generally be removed and refitted to the original car without the need for reprogramming, although it is strongly advised against this, as if anything corrupts within the programming whilst this is being done, it may prevent any further communication with the car and therefore render the system useless and unrecoverable. So if the radio is to be removed, depairing is always advised prior to removal as this can ONLY be done in the ORIGINAL car.

If you are sending it away for repair, it must be depaired first, as the repair center will need to program it for thier own test bench, and then reset back to delivery mode again so that you can then reprogram it back to your car.

Yes, patterened parts are available from a few german websites, but at 210 Euro`s for a guaranteed repair, its a no-brainer - that is a good price from one of the few centers left that can now repair this obsolete unit !!

Thanks Dave that explains it so if i bought another in delivery mode could it be programed to my car , a further point tho since the day temp as come up a bit it never spat it out once so im unsure what to do at this point, but i think i might just leave it for a while and see if it still keeps performing.
I have had a reply from the german guy and he said
Hi Robert,

if only the cd- drive is defectiv, normaly it is not needed to be deactivated. Please keep an eye for a very good packing then !!!

Best regards
Adrian
thats the email he sent me

Hi all
Im going to bite the bullet and have the unit repaired by this guy in Deuchland
Could anyone advise me what i will need ie Radio Keys to take it  out,and any other problems i might come up with to remove it.
Then when i get it back is it straight forward putting it back do they just slide in and connect in the cage.
And would i still be able to drive the car till the unit  comes back.

TIA Robert

If it needs depairing, then tech2 before removal.

Then normal double din removal keys (after removing allen screws), though these have a habit of being very tight in the cage. DO NOT PULL ON THE RADIO FACIA.

Refit is just push in, and pop the allen screws back in. Tech2 if it had been depaired.

That cannot be stressed enough !!

In fact, I would suggest to also ask your Tech2 guy to remove it at the same time as depairing for you.

does it only need to be depaired if its going to be hooked up to another cid unit? i have a cid and a 2013  (and all the gubbins) removed from the same car, which i am goin to be fitting into my mv6. they were original items from the same vehicle, so i was of the understanding that as long as the items were kept together they wouldnt need depairing. hence the 'pairing' bit of the term of reference i suppose...  ;D

If they are staying together (ie. married) then you can move them. However you really need the code - immobiliser code from donar car in case of any issues.

TB has a proven method of extracting the code.  :y

This process involves a bit more than Tech II. There is another stage required.  :y
