Key Fob 2
« on: 27 August 2011, 22:48:42 »

Was planning to have my new fob Tec 2 at the meet till I read that the internals can be different although externally seem the same.  Checked mine and that was the case, so after a little work on it I have repaired my fob. OR so I thought.

It does the following:
Unlocks the boot on boot key
unlocks the car except for drivers door
on locking it drops all locks, indicators flash, courtesy light goes out, then it unlocks again.

Followed instructions in manual to sync key but when I press lock/unlock nothing happens and according to manuall it shold lock then unlock.

Any ideas? is this something that someone could sort at Newent?

Battery (car) was disconnected for 1 hour today)

LED lights and it is the flat key with fob built in.  Also apart from doing what I said in the post if I simply lock again from unlock all works i.e leave drivers door locked, so to me it seems as if the drivers door may be the culprit.

No idea, when it arrived the top was split and inside was covered in black gunge, out of intererst I took the circuit board to the car and pressed them with a pin, loh and behold they worked BUT what I did not see was the drivers side was not functioning.  As sted in the first post all works except drivers door will not unlock and if unlocked by key it will not lock, they imply lock then unlock.  it does central lock all doors manually from drivers door though.

Put new switches in and all pins work and red led glows, so convinced the problem is the drivers door.

Bob G - if you can get to Newent, one of use will take a look.

You will need your carpass to get one programmed to your car, but the equipment will be there, as will a selection of used fobs that I've collected over the years.

Seconded on the door solenoid. It's normally just a microswitch in the solenoid that fails.

I can bring my soldering iron to Newent if you want it repaired. Can't remember if I have any of the microswitches spare at the moment.
