shabby looking interior
« on: 28 September 2011, 00:07:50 »

some of my "98" tractor,s interior is beginning to look shabby. two bits in particular, the leather  on the manual gear lever & handbrake.  have spotted on a scrapper a decent set . but how does the gear knob come off without damaging them.

You need to carefully unpick the stitching and then stitch it back up when youve fitted it to your car. I dont know any other way of doing it, although someone else might know better. :-\

I think the OP is talking about the gear knob itself Albs, rather than the gaiter...  :-\

I'd also like to know if its possible to remove an automatic gear knob. I'd like to swap mine over but I fear I shall have to drill the riveys and remove the entire gear lever mechanism.

Sorry if I have hijacked the thread.  :y

You have to take a hacksaw to it as it`s bonded to the sleeve that`s fitted to the gearstick

Sorry Ray, I think I misread your post and assumed it was the gearshift gaiter which was the problem. :-\

albs you are right , but to take the garter off, the knob i presume has to come off first.  :y
