I absolutely love Fireworks, although I hate the way they seem to be let off for about 6 weeks around November 5th for 2 main reasons...

  • It gets to be bloody annoying and scares the crap out of the cat! Although she's not so bad now she's getting on a bit and tends to just come inside if she can be bothered ::)
  • SWMBO is terrified of them. Silly really as she trained as a chemist and understands them, even enjoys watching the pretty colours... It's just the explosions ::)
There is a theory behind Number 2 though... When her mum was late on in pregnancy with her they were at Cowes Week and got separated from her sister who is only 3 years older. Theory is the loud bangs bring back the stresses felt through the womb :-\ Plus, as a Hearing Aid Audiologist, they can cause severe hearing problems ::)

That said, she has had to "man up" a little in the last few years so we could take our nephew to the ones here on the base, which are normally pretty good :y She just wears some earplugs ;D ;D
