long day at work...
« on: 10 March 2008, 19:12:51 »

I knew we had power / ADSL issues over the weekend, as i was on call.

Got into the office today at 9, collected a nice fat bacon buttie on the way to prepare me for the day.

Office had limited power, ADSL link still down. Turns out the BT exchange in Covent Garden went t!ts up or something....

So no internet connection in the office, can do sod all. Boss walks up and says, go home and monitor the systems, tell me if anything goes wrong...

It was 10:20am  :o

Very strange doing the 'commute' outside of rush hour.

1) Whats this strange thing in the sky leaving the office, oooo its the Sun  8-)

2) whats this strange stuff on floor of the tube, around my feet? ohh its the floor! Ohh and what are these strange bright coloured things that run the length of the train. They look like seat devices? :-/

3) Why is the big train stopping at all these places and going so slow? I usually see them at 90mph?  :-/

I never even made it to office today ::)

I think if an exchange had gone down, that would be major news.  It simply doesn't happen (often - I knocked a couple of racks off in a couple of exchanges during my time ::)) - I reckon its your ISP given you some Billy Bull ;)

Our ISP is easyNet.... we had big problems with them at my previous job, but they seam to like them here  :-/

Saturday we had a powercut, after the power came back on in the afternoon, everthing was ok, i was able to VPN in.

Regis (the people who manage the building) did something on Sunday, either had engerniners in to fix it or something, but our ADSL link from the coms room to the basement was nackered....

They seam to think its the exchange now  :-/

Txt'd the boss to see if he wants me in tommorow, no reply  >:(

They'll love EasyNet due to cost ;).  LLU provider, so they have to send a biff in to restart their crappy equipment it BT's exchange if it dies.
