Possibly stupid question but...

I thought the part number stamped on the diff casing had a digit which indicated when a diff was LSD?

chances of the ID plate still being there are pretty slim

I'd definitely suggest taking off the rear cover and having a look. If it says so on the build record then I'd guess it's still there.

put it this way - if it's really LSD then it'll definitely benefit from an oil change and if it's not then you can change the oil at little cost.

I've got loads of the additive, I'll lend you some on a "use of return" basis if you need

That's a very kind offer 2woody, I'll whip off the cover and check it out...
What oil and additive should I use either way?

Incidentally, what type of diff is fitted to the Omega? And, How does it work?
I am familiar with the clutch type as fitted to Fords such as Capri's, MK2 Escorts and so on.....
And I know a little about some "locker" diff's but that's about it....
I was fully expecting to be able to lift one wheel and with some effort, be able to turn it against the clutches?????

The OP was wondering what engine he had? It says 3.2 on the boot and yet the plenum is not drive by wire.
This would lead you to think it would be a 3.0 or even a 2.5.
I know someone who paid a lot of money for a 3.0 engine & gearbox to be fitted to his car, to have me breaking the news it was a 2.5 did not make him a happy bunny
There is however a stamp on the drivers side of the engine block about  an inch high, which will tell you what the bloke is. There are also stamps on the heads to prove too.
Engines can be changed, and perhaps everyone does not notify DVLA either.

was that me ol mucker nitro by any chance???
