TD fuel consumption and performance
« on: 06 December 2011, 19:58:27 »

I'm still puzzling over this. The fuel consumption is definitely down by about 15%, and the performance seems somewhat sluggish. Because I rarely push it, I can't really be certain that the turbo is kicking in, it seems to pull away fairly well above 200RPM, but still doesn't feel quite right, and I'm guessing the sluggishness is related to the poor consumption. Has anyone in the Swindon area got a TD so that I can  compare performance? Any further advice would be welcome.

Is there anything on the intake manifold where you can connect a hose to a vacuum gauge? Just thinking you could attach a "lo-gauge" or similar and check the boost pressure is building as it should.

The pipe at the bottom of the intake which goes to the switch near the PS reservoir might serve, but I know if that's disconnected problems occur. ???

Mine was lacking in power and fuel consumption was down too and i changed the map sensor and it was perfect. The little pipe on the map sensor breaks away so easy and you can not see it and this makes it seriously lack in power.

Thanks Crossy, I've already checked the pipe is fitted to the MAP OK, but maybe the unit has failed. I'll try a replacement.  Cheers. :y
