Peugeot 106 TU1 Starting Problem
« on: 13 December 2011, 20:25:06 »

Hey there Folks.

SWMBO has a little crappy 106 (1998 1.1 TU1).

It started to struggle to start (cranking for a second or two before firing) and then ocassionally cutting out on idle.  This was more common when cold.

I completed a full service of the beast with replacement Oil, Oil Filter, HT leeads, Spark Plugs, Fuel Filter, Coolant etc etc.

Since the service, the problem seems to have got worse, to the point I had to dash down to the Park & Ride tonight where the car wouldnt start (battery ran flat with constant cranking).  After attaching a booster pack, the car fired after a couple of seconds.

The throttle body is immaculately clean, the plugs are all a nice colour.  No EML light has shown and no codes are stored.

Will anyone here own up to having any experience with these engines and could point me in a direction of a possible cure to the problem?............ She seems to think I have broken her car and I'm getting ear-ache.  :'(

Thanking you in advance.

these motors have a sort of idle valve on the inlet manifold. just unplugging it for a period might  help ?
