Three times today.
« on: 21 December 2011, 18:43:18 »

Mrs Opti has received a  telephone call. "We understand you've been in an accident, we can help" (she hasn't)

She tells me she found the calls unpleasant. What exactly is going on here? :'( :'( :'(

Got one of those "We're calling from technical support.. about your PC" calls the other day. It's a real shame I had something less pointless to do because I wonder how long I could have strung it along before they twigged that I was sitting in front of a Linux PC. ;D

Oh, and don't ever give your contact details to a certain insurance firm whose name is a bit like Swindon but further north. I don't know how many rather times I've told them to remove my details from their systems, and that, as a matter of principle, I will never purchase any of their products. >:(

Those B******Ds conned a retired Minister I know out of £150. Fortunately he called my son who put in a complaint, helped him with the bank and re-intalled his OS to get rid of all the crap they put on it. Let me get my hands on them and they won't be doing much for a very long time.

Answer yes I have, I just fell over while answering the phone and would like to take your company to court for compensation as this number is registered with TPS so you shouldn't be calling  ;D

My sister received one of these calls and even after explaining that she was stood the other side of the road and was well away from the incident when it (a relatively minor bumper scuff) happened she was still asked what injuries she suffered.  ::)

Incidently, she took the other drivers details and after speaking with a friend of the family who is an auto repair specialist, she called the driver and said she could get it repaired for £180 all in. The driver refused point blank to pay that much, accused my sister of 'trying to pull a fast one', and stated they would now go through their insurance.
My sister contacted her insurers and the following day her BMW was collected and a similar 5 series was left as a courtesy car until hers was repaired.
Five days later her car was returned, along with a breakdown of what had been done and relevant costs. The total charged to the other drivers insurance company...£3,450.  :o

Definitely a lesson there, I only take their calls for a laugh ::) (see separate thread).
