Door rubbing strips-fixing?
« on: 24 December 2011, 11:08:26 »

As the title suggests, the rear nearside door rubbing strip (waist strip?) is coming loose at the back end on swmbo's car. It looks like there might be some sort of clip to hold it onto the door but without pulling it right off or bending the trim I can't see clearly. Did a quick search and found a posting which suggests that clips are used, but just clips alone? No sealing strip/sticky stuff?

If memory serves, facelift has different fixings from pre-facelift.  Which do you have?

If you have a small screw pointing long-ways into the very end of the trim, you undo that screw which allows you to slide the whole trim along half an inch to release it from its clips.  This is he facelift method, I believe.

Somebody will be along shortly with better detail.

Prefacelift ones are stuck, and cannot be removed without destroying it...

Mine were removed & replaced when I had a load of paintwork done the other year. I believe he used a fish wire of some sort.  ;) ;)

Both mine and the missus' cars are early ones, '95 or thereabouts so very much prefacelift! Looks like sticky stuff then?
