I think as long as the tax runs concurrently you  may tax up to 2 weeks before its due, however as its sorn there lies the problem, you can apply to buy early from dvla they just wing issue it till its due, but it will be in their computer so you may not get trouble from our boys in blue as it will show as taxed, they may decide to tie tow it and crush it because its not displayed but thats another issue lol
Just wait its only a couple of days not worth the stress

It's now bought and sat on the side board waiting to go in the car. Directgov. doesn't give the option to be able to buy it early when it's SORNed ie you'd have to buy it starting from 1/1/2012 and lose 4 weeks of January, why don't they have the option of what the bloke in the local Post Office had this morning?
I taxed the Omega online last Fri but that's already taxed and the new disc will run on from the old one - I'll have the Astra legally roadworthy if the Omega's disc doesn't arrive by Wed.  ;) ;)

I believe if taxed online you are allowed 5 days grace from the end of the month.

I think you're right if there's no gap between the two discs ......

I'll be glad to use my Astra for work again ...... it's cheaper to run! It gets depressing when another £80+ fill up in the Omega is approaching the red again!!  ??? ???

Yea,its not going to work with a sorned one,I was asked about a tax disc a while ago when I still had the Omega,it was the 2nd of the month and the disc hadn't turned up in't post, showed the nice man my online receipt and he was happy with it,even mentioned that the car came up as taxed on his system but did mention with a wry smile that" Failure to display" was still an offence in itself  :(

Perish the thought,I was quite happy that he didn't notice the lack of tread on one of the front tyres :-X
