Mintex, Ferodo, Pagid, etc. all make some excellent pads. Pagid in particular, IMHO, if you can afford their better pads. They also make bog standard budget pads too, of course. ;)
Indeed, thats my point. They make good stuff, but that ain't what factors sell you ;)

OE discs & pads are plenty good enough to stop your car & if bought on Trade Club are very good value for money.  :y :y

Gm front axle set for omega consists of two discs and four pads, for £80 on trade club.

There is nothing cheaper that works this well. Don't get me wrong there is better available, obviously, but at considerably more money. There will be some excess brake dust and a very slight squeal under gentle braking IME. But for the money, they offer good life, ESP of discs de greased and painted silver to keep the rust at bay as much as possible, and they won't warp.

Tc pads at £14 a set, came into being because lease company s would not pay the price of oe pads, andyc informed us. These are in the region of £150 a set retail and used to be on tc for about £90 or something like, and are made by jurid. They have superior feel at the pedal, don't squeal, and there is minimal dust. But they are not worth the extra money to a lot of people, for obvious reasons.

I have the GM discs and TC pads fitted to my car. The stopping power is pretty good and the car doesnt wobble during heavy braking which the Mintex disc/pads set used (but that may not be down to brakes?). However I can't live with the brake squeal that comes with normal braking. Andyc got me a set of OE pads at a very reasonable price so hope they cure the squeal and they are said to stop better too.

This squeal that has been mentioned... is this under ''normal'' breaking?  :-\

If so I'm not sure I could cope with that!

Yes and I am not alone. There is no squeal under heavy braking though so if you are thinking of buying a set you might need to change your driving style.

Other people had no such issues.
