Ahhhhhhhhhhh crap >:( This causes me grief every day having to detour round on the M40 to get to my current contract at Tower Hill. Won't use the trains/buses so looks like it back to a bike for me... Even at 6.20am with one lane open its useless using it! Won't even consider the area coming home. Aaaaaaagh! >:( >:(

Just look at the elevated section of the M6 around Birmingham, there has been a permanent 'village' of workmen cabins underneath for years. This is past it's sell by date as well but they have to keep it going because they could not close it. ;)
Aparently part of the problem was the wrong kind of salt used for gritting has rotted the concrete and the joints between the slabs.
They now use something made from animal urine...... ???
