Just checked metoffice for Swindon tonight...

9pm Sleet......so that will freeze as soon as it touches the ground.....as its been 0c or colder for the last two days here..
12pm Heavy Snow
3am to 12am Friday...Light snow
3pm Friday....The sun comes out and starts to melt it
Friday night -4c

Saturday Ice rink .....Great  :(

Its been years since we did that at school, but pretty sure Captain Oates gave his life to hopefully save the others, unfortunately they died but what a brave man.

I think the forecasters have learnt some tricks from the beeb and tabloid media, and try to over sensationalise everything. Last week's snow was supposed to be appocolyptic...

Luckily if it starts to get bad I can go home early  :)

 ???  in the middle of winter why dont you check met ? get a taxi!

Should have checked weather, but cycling is free. Often quickest way back!

That was wasted on me, I had to Google who he was  ;D


if I remember correctly he made a trip to pole (south I think) and his ship blocked by ice and died there :-\

I thought it was shackleton who, on a separate expedition, got his boat stuck in the ice.
