Is Bose the same system in pre and post facelift motors?
« on: 07 February 2012, 22:11:36 »

I've got a minifacelift Elite with BOSE and a facelift MV6 without Bose. The latter has the NCDC2013. Is the Bose speaker/amp set up from the earlier car compatible with the later car? I imagined they might be more or less the same system pre and post facelift with the headunit being the bit that changed but I thought I'd pose the question. Ta.

As far as I am aware, there are no fundamental changes in specification, and I do not forsee any reason why the earlier BOSE from a Pre facelift could not be utilised on a Post facelift and vice versa.

I think (can someone please confirm) that the speakers are the same sizes, and that the only complication that may arise is some of the wiring between the amp and the head unit - but then that can alter dramatically depending on which head unit / display is fitted anyway.

bear in mind that there was a subwoofer setup for pre face-lift cars which wasn't BOSE. don't get the two mixed up.

In theory you could rip out the Bose Speakers, Amp and Loom from the PF and install into the FL, Amp and Speakers were the same (Except Estate) and fairly sure the Loom was also, then get the NCDC Tech2'd to Bose mode, problem is your then left with a PF with a lonely Bose Single Din HU sitting in it.

Probably easier to wait till you get hold of a second hand Bose kit then do the necessary with the NCDC on your FL.

OK definatively...

(HU aside) No difference between PFL saloon and FL saloon, nor and difference between a PFL estate and a FL estate.
Different between saloon and estate (different loom and woofer setup)
Non Bose FL is missing the loom from HU to kick panel, bit of faffing to make it and fit
Not all FL HU's are Bose-able. Only CCRT2008, NCDC201x and **SOME** CCR2006.

well the kit will be coming out of my PFL Elite and going into my FL MV6. The MV6 has the NCDC2013 and CID, the PFL has the non telephone equipped HU and BOSE. Not worried about the Elite no longer having a BOSE equipped HU as the car will be stripped for parts anyway. Both cars are saloons so I'm guessing any wiring missing from the FL can be taken from the PFL? And do I need to get BOSE activated on the NCDC2013 via Tech2 or is it an onboard function?

Thanks for the feedback.

Tech2 is by far the easiest way of enabling it.

Most head units CAN be reprogrammed from the front panel, but the manuals and instructions appear to be written very badly - I did it once and it took me hours, and vowed never to try it again, especiallly when its only a few button presses with a Tech2.

The missing HU to kick panel loom is "tricky", but doable if you get all the wiring diagrams.

NCDC is Tech2 to reconfigure.
