You may well be able to pick up a reasonable engine for around £200 but would then need to factor in the extra cost of cambelt/water pump etc so getting closer to £500 just to be sure its a sound engine.

Unless you are able to do the replacement yourself you could end up spending another £500-£700 to have it replaced bearing in mind you are still putting a second hand engine into a 13 year old car.

Hurts me to say it but my advise would be to cut your loses and say good bye to it.If you have the facilities to break it down you would recover almost as much as its worth as a runner just in the parts and still could get the rest weighed in a the scrap yard. That way it might take a while to shift it but some money would be recovered.

Sorry it has come to this but repairs would far exceed the worth even doing a lot of the graft yourself.

Although I'm sure a wanted ad for a second hand lump would be fine, post in test zone and admin will move it to wanted for you.

How had this happened btw? has it run out of coolant and over heated maybe?

thanks guys for the advice, knd of thought that it would be the scrap yard, i can not break myself as have no space to put her while stripping down so looks like its off the the scrap yard. So so sad really top car to drive.

admin edit

Hard lesson lernt here but will deff get another V6 Omega in the future maybe spend a little more money next time as i can honestly say on the M25 this is one car that can hold its own against the A4's and A5's with no problem at all.

Very Very sad day but thanks all i WILL have another just need to convince the one who must be obaied......

Sorry to hear about the car and after how you did your best to keep it going . I have seen some mechanics use K seal as a quick fix on omegas and boy does that make things worse . With a little more knowledge and help from here before you buy you could get a nice one thats not been mucked about  :y
