Central locking puzzle
« on: 19 February 2012, 15:36:41 »

I am new to this forum and apologise in advance if I am doing it wrong. I have searched lots of 'Central locking prolem' posts but have found nothing that helps with my particular one. I would appreciate any help or advise.

Car:
1997 Elite

Problem:
About two weeks ago the offside rear door lock refused to unlock or lock when using the fob or key. It unlocks and locks manually by means of the latch. Then, three days ago the whole central locking system refused to work when using the fob. I can unlock three doors with the key but when I open the drivers door, the hazard warning lights come on - no alarm is sounded. When I start the engine, the hazard warning lights go off and everything seems normal again.

When I lock the car with the key (the only means open to me), the red alarm-set light on the dashboard flashes. The red light does not stop flashing when I open the drivers door but does so when I start the engine. I have two fobs, the batteries in both have been checked.
Please help.

Fob not working. On top of the original rear door solenoid fault.

Two fobs failed at the same time? Possible I suppose.

Thanks for your time.

Try a re-sync with the fob/s
Key in ign, ign on, use fob to lock doors, then use fob to unlock

hazard warning lights come on - no alarm is sounded

this will mean that the alarm horn is not working  or been disconnected  :y  it lives under the scuttle drivers side next to the power sounder  :y
