Was at the garage on Friday, getting them to sort out a side light bulb not working on the loan Skoda Superb i have at the mo. Computer kept beeping every 60 secs to tell me i had a light out and very annoying....They sorted it eventually, bulb was ok, it was a break in the wire. However bloody computer still beeps every 60secs....

But while i was there a chavved up Mondeo was being mot'd.....it had those chavved up rear light clusters on it and the front lights had been played with.....ie slighty blue side light bulbs and slightly blue headlamps......these all paased the mot ok......however the mot blokey spotted that the front sidelights came on with the rear brake lights when the brake pedal was pressed.....FAIL 

Unless the chav had purposely wired it up to do this......i reckon it'll take him forever to find that fault

An incorrectly fitted lamp won't cause that, my money is on a corroded rear light cluster that all Mondy's up until approx year 2000 suffered from due to water ingress (assuming barry boy wired his modded cluster correctly to start with).

An incorrectly fitted lamp won't cause that, my money is on a corroded rear light cluster that all Mondy's up until approx year 2000 suffered from due to water ingress (assuming barry boy wired his modded cluster correctly to start with).

It shouldn't, but can.... I've seen it Although, to be fair, it wasn't just incorrectly fitted. It was the wrong bulb Single filament bulb in a twin filament socket so whenever the brake lights were powered it powered the side light circuit and vice versa

That said, it's more likely to be the earthing or incorrectly wired units

Yup, that'll do it as the "pip" is placing a direct short between the +12v feeds so when one becomes live the other will automatically follow.

Indeed... I've even seen people manage to get the twin filament bulbs to short both connections too And these people who can't change a bulb are loose on our roads

Think i've narrowed down the beeping computer problem.....it only does it when the headlights are on......just sidelights seem fine......i think i'll get the garage to change both headlamps bulbs....see what that does, it may be a case of cheap bulbs fitted
