300tdi 24spline should be the same except gear ratios as they should run the same running gear only the rear somtimes a sailsbury axle but they on the V8 defenders...??

if i can rem its only the 200 & 300 auto v8s that had a different diff ratio unsure on later kit... to many elec gizmos to break up!

but from what i can rem the v8s do have different ratios on everything transfur box & axles (but only on the autos.. stand corrected)

you may have to count teeth on the crownwheel & check before you fit & distroy the transfur box....

im actually after a 200tdi front axle 10spline as i got a truck with a distroyed cv joint!

I know a man who will have one of those although he is here in Cornwall so carriage would be steep.
I've found the correct diff for mine now so hopefully will have it up and running by the weekend :y

could collect but all depends how much?? found one 25miles away for £150... & it cost me £50 easy 2 get cornwall & back...

What part do you actually need?,he has the complete axle for similar money to what you have been quoted but is willing to split an axle for specific parts

unsure its not for my disco but my mates, the n/s hub is jamming & graunching loudly when under load but if you jack it up all sounds quiet..

so it could be a CV joint, sheered stub shaft, diff, bearings, etc...

but he wants a complete axle as unsure exsactly whats up...

so all i was going to do was strip complete hubs & shafts out of both sides & replace with another set inc diff..

would of just changed axel but on a 1990 G reg with all original everything!! its all corroded & i really calnt be arsed to strip it all down atmo, hes going to buy in the next month new shocks & springs in a +2 & pollybush everything so this is just a tempory repair!

well a perminant axle repair & bushes suspension etc replaced in a monts time as he only has £200 available to fix it atmo

but he does need a 200tdi radiator as all the fins have compleatly fallen out of about 75% of the cores!! it lasts about 30mins of town traffic befor it gets into the red, good job he only works 10mins from home..!!

Result :y,turns out that my lack of drive with the disco is a knackered front diff, does anyone know if a 24 spline 300Tdi diff is the same as my v8 one,I know where theres one cheap but not sure if they are the same, the axle is physically different but wondering if I may get away with it

Why does it not drive from the rear diff..... :-\ :-\

No centre diff lock on the disco 2,it has TC instead, apparently the diff lock is still in the transfer case but not plumbed in ???

only on some....

does the TC not go wild when trying to drive ?

I have a spare V8 diff if needed, but I'd be very surprised if its actually the diff - much more likely to be a halfshaft or cv joint.

Finally got to drive it yesterday and very pleased with it, very quiet and smooth with quite a lot of grunt, everything working except nearside front central lock solenoid, shouldn't be to much bother sorting that.
