Spanner light and codes
« on: 05 March 2012, 18:13:41 »

It never rains but it pours...

...got the spanner light coming on, staying on for a few runs, then going out, lather, rinse, repeat.

Read the codes - got the usual 0420 and 0430, they'll be getting fixed with the old sensor-moving trick.

The other two, however, are 0650 and 0571, which says to me they're related -

"P0650 Malfunction Indicator (MI) Control Circuit High Instrument
P0650 Malfunction Indicator (MI) Control Circuit Low Instrument
P0650 Malfunction Indicator (MI) Control Circuit Open Instrument "

"P0571 Cruise control/brake switch "A" circuit malfunction"

- could these be caused by having LED stop/tail chav-bulbs? (see my note at the bottom). I don't have cruise control for one thing - and my brakelights are working fine... I'm thinking if it's on the brake switch circuit? Or what else should I be looking at?

(I did have some LED stop/ tail bulbs kicking around the garage, fitted them, then realised they were bringing the high level brake lamp on dimly... so put some normal bulbs back in. Then had a sticky connection the N/S lamp, so sprayed some WD40 on the contacts, refitted... and like a mong ended up shorting the circuit and blowing the brake lamp bulbs.
Popped the LED bulbs in as a temporary fix, so far the high-level has stayed off, haven't been to VX to get some decent stop-tails yet. Next time I'm off and they're open...)

Ignore the MI ones.

Yes, probably your chav lights caused the brake one

Just found this in my posts, completely forgot to reply - ta chap! New bulbs on the way, chiefly because I age about 5 years every time I queue in the local dealer...
