door handle switches : 4 wires to 3 wires
« on: 16 March 2012, 21:30:25 »

Hi! I had to change the locking mechanism from the drivers door handle. I found a complet door handle from a 98-99 Omega(without key), mine is a 95. In the picture them seemed the same, but was not the same. I that it will be a 10 minute job, but... all the locking components was different, so i needed to make him to work with my key. In the end it took more than 2 hours.

1.My door handle had 3 switches with 4 wires , the new one had 2 swiches with 3 wires.
The wires are (from exterior to interior of the car) was red/yellow, brown/red, Brown and brown/ white.
The last 3 wires was the same on the new handle.
In the old handle the switch with R/Y wire was activated after the switch with B/R wire on locking.
I put them together to the new switch. Is ok? Also, what hi starts/activate(the R/Y wire)?

Now on the new switch i have conected: Y/R+B/R to B/R switch, the other 2 wires are the same color( B and B/W) .

2.The doors are working ok, and also is starting the alarm (?), i think is the alarm. After i lock the car i see a red light on the imobilizer buton what blinks at the begining, and after that is silent.
If i open o dor after it was lock from driver side, it start de hazard light, should be there some noise also? If, it should be, where to look, it is possible that has been disconnected? Before the alarm was activating if i unlock the car from passenger side and open the dor. The only way to stop was to start the car and lock the car from the inside with the driver's knob.

Thanks!
