Gear Stick removal - Manual.
« on: 13 March 2012, 17:46:26 »

I'am right in thinking (looking at the book of lies) that it can only be removed from underneath?, remove linkage then then the 4 upside down bolts, Dont wish to remove the whole linkage just the top part with the sliding reverse lever.

Any body had this before, Cars a pig to get in reverse, unless you either stick your finger under the plastic lever at the bottom of the shaft or pull of the Gear knob so you can pull the normal reverse lever up more than it needs to go, if that makes sense.

Had a poke about and it looks like theres a plastic strip that runs inside the lever shaft down to the lower plastic release, its stretched slightly and its come off a metal pivot (not sure how else to describe it really), imaging a needle made of plastic moving up and down inside a straw (gear lever) the needle point is connected at the bottom and the top eye bit loops over a pivot / pin sticking out of the upper release handle.

The bit I need help on is, is the lower part of the plastic needle, which you cant see, connected at the bottom with a screw / bolt etc ie, its repairable or is it molded to it, in which case Im wasting my time and will have to replace to whole thing.
