Syncing key to car
« on: 23 March 2012, 19:32:24 »

I have tried to sync my spare fob to the car but its does not appear to be working the red light flashes when the buttons are pressed but it wont unlock the car
I have tried to do it several times if I am correct the key needs to be in the ignition at position 2 (lights on) then press either lock or unlock on the fob and this should operate the door lock up/down and then its set
So not sure what  I am doing wrong or even if the fob is actually for the car although the key starts the car so the transponder chip in there is correct
Any suggestions as to what  I am doing wrong

Don't shoot me if this is wrong .........
can you take the fob off the key so you can point it at the sensor ( sunroof control panel) and hold the button in ( rather than just press it). If this doesn't work you may need tech 2.

............ Ready, aim ........ Fire  :D

The light may be flashing, but that does not always mean the key is transmitting. The immobilisor circuit is totaly different and seperate.

IMHO your best bet is to contact Martin Imber, he's not here often now but is available through ebay ..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Key-Fob-Remote-repair-Omega-Vectra-keyfob-/230764731592?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35baa65cc8

He can check and repair keyfobs, and does an excellent job, he's fixed mine .. both fobs on both cars ... I will recommend him highly  :y :y :y

Key in ignition, ignition on, press button on fob - you should hear doors lock/unlock.

Is your key battery ok? Standard button cell 2032  ;)

you can't just assign A N Other fob to your car by the ''sync'ing''  procedure, any other fob needs to be programmed to your car with the use of Tech II  ;) ;)

And you have a sensor in your 2.6 do you?  ??? ??? ??? You're describing the routine for the very original infra red separate alarm fob.  :y :y

Ah, damn, we should have done it there and then. Is this the 'standard' key, not flip? Does it say Megamos or Delphi on the back?

Fairly sure I have some Megamos innards, if required, to swap over if required. As you have carpass, easy enough to program a replacement :y

Next time you see it, look at back of the fob, on the flat area should be some writing (sometimes only readable under certain lights).

Or pop over one day, and we'll get to the bottom of it (bring carpass just in case!)
