Did a couple of little jobs last night
« on: 02 April 2008, 11:38:21 »

Thought I'd take a few mins to clean the scuttle drains and replace the cabin filter.

Cabin filter has clearly never been done, evident by the complete blackness and covering of hair (although the blowers still aren't as good as I had expected?)

Bit of arm ripping and I managed to get the passenger side drain grommet out to clean. As expected it was full of sludge.

Also happened to notice that my ICAV was only partially in the plenum, so gave that a push, too.

Still haven't managed to solve the buzzing passenger door, though! Is there a trick to getting the inside panels off? I replved all the screws, including hidden ones, but still nothing budging.

Tonight I'm going to do the breathers - these 3.0's are a pain having to wait for them to cool down!!!!

Is there a guide to cleaning the V6 ICAV anywhere? I can only find ones for the 2.0.

Then its time to get the rust and dents sorted..

All in though I'm quite pleased, since picking it up I've done the above along with oil and filter, a few redex treatments and some long drives. Seems to be freeing up a bit. Need to get the LPG system serviced and then start saving for a cambelt change!

Final point, is it normal for the car to idle at 1200 when first switched on, to then drop to 500 as soon as its been put into drive? (stays at 500 in any position from there on).

V6 idle control valve is a doddle to clean.

Remove by undoing jubilee clips holding pipes and unclip connector at back on then take off side of plenum.

Clean by using lots of carb cleaner or soak in paraffin for a bit.

Initial tickover should be around 1,000 - 1,200 rpm then quickly dropping to 600rpm with climate on and 500rpm with it off.

A can will do the ICV....

The breathers and the throttle bodies will require multiples of! ;)
