so you say i have met two now and belive me they was viscious little tinkers....never met a friendly one  :y

This one has bit somebody already, its currently in a box and angry as hell!

Yes hissing is a warning that they are mad/scared and want to be left alone. Next step would be to bite and clamp on, as opposed to the friendly nip you sometimes get with a playful ferret.
If they clamp on they can happily dangle by their teeth and don't want to let go.

We found one in the garden of our last house & caught it by propping a cardboard box on a stick with raw bacon as bait & pulling the stick away when it started feeding. I expected it to dart away before being trapped but no, the little bleeder wasn't bothered in the slightest! ::)  In between catching it & the RSPCA coming for it it demolished two packs of best back bacon! :D  Friendly little fella & beautiful with it too :y
