Lambda sensor problem (non Omega)
« on: 05 May 2012, 17:29:15 »

Son has a 2.0 16v Mitsubishi Lancer Sport (Evo wannabe). It's an 06 with 50k on it.

The EML has come on and he has been advised by his Mitsu dealer that it needs a new Lambda sensor @ £300 inc vat for the part plus fitting. The car has gone into some form of standard map and seems to be running well enough.

I spoke to my local Mitsu dealer parts chappy and was told that this model has two Lambda sensors, one right next to the exhaust manifold, the other down next to the cat. Strange thing was that the prices for these were £189 and £134  (ex Vat) - which doesn't stack up with the figure his dealer has quoted him.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Mitsi's are always costly when it comes to parts. If he can find out which one is dead he can probably get a generic one or maybe a Bosch supplied one for a lot cheaper than OE. From the sounds of it the dealers are just going to replace both going by the price or there being a right bunch of rip off B'stards!!!!

Maybe if I can find out if Bosch to both then we could get both changed for a lot lot less than the Mitsu price
